6-letter word game

One letter more, a lot more thinking. Unlimited rounds.

Unlimited - 6 letters

About the 6-letter mode

Adding a sixth letter changes the game more than you would expect. The answer pool jumps to 977 words, letter patterns get richer (double letters, -ING and -ED endings, silent letters), and a careless opener can leave you drowning in possibilities. This is the mode for players who find the classic board a little too comfortable.

Good starting words for 6-letter puzzles

Six-slot openers should mix the core letters (E, A, R, S, T) with common structural letters like N and L. PLANET and SILENT are excellent single openers; CASTLE trades N for the frequent C/L pair. A powerful combo is PLANET then CHORUS - twelve distinct letters covering four of the five vowels. More openers and the reasoning behind them live in the strategy guide.

6-letter mode FAQ

Is 6-letter harder than the classic game?

Yes, moderately. You have the same six guesses but one more position to resolve, and long-word patterns (double letters, common endings) can mislead. Most players' average creeps up by about one guess.

Do I still get only six guesses?

Yes. Six guesses at six letters is the classic balance for this variant - tight enough to sting, loose enough that a solid opener plus deduction usually gets there.

Any tips specific to 6 letters?

Watch for endings: -ED, -ER, -ING and -LY account for a big slice of six-letter words. If your yellows cluster at the end of the word, test a common suffix early.
