Terms of Use

Effective date: 3 July 2026

1. Agreement

By accessing or playing Don't Guess (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. We may update these terms; continued use after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

2. The Service

Don't Guess is a free, browser-based word game. No account is required, and no purchase is offered. The Service is supported by advertising. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice.

3. Licence to play

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and play the game for private, non-commercial entertainment. All other rights are reserved.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Intellectual property

The Don't Guess name, logo, site design, text, and software are owned by the operator of this website and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. The underlying word lists are compiled from open-license sources credited on the About page; those lists remain subject to their own licences.

Don't Guess is an independent creation. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with The New York Times Company, Wordle, or dontwordle.com. WORDLE is a registered trademark of The New York Times Company; all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners and are referenced only to disclaim affiliation.

6. Advertising and third-party links

The Service displays third-party advertising (see the Privacy Policy). Advertisers, ads, and external sites we link to (for example, dictionary definitions from the Free Dictionary API or Wiktionary) are outside our control; we are not responsible for their content, products or practices.

7. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. Word lists are curated with care but may contain words some players find unfamiliar or objectionable, and dictionaries inevitably reflect judgement calls. Statistics and streaks are stored in your browser and can be lost if you clear site data - we cannot restore them.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of Don't Guess shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed one hundred US dollars (USD 100) or the equivalent in local currency. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify the operator against claims arising from your breach of these terms or misuse of the Service.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there - except where the consumer-protection law of your country of residence grants you non-waivable rights or venue.
