Don't Guess - the survival word game where you must not guess the hidden word
You're trapped!
The only word you can still play is the hidden answer.
Past undos (0)
What is Don't Guess?
Don't Guess flips the classic word-guessing formula on its head. A hidden five-letter word is chosen, and you must enter six valid five-letter words - but if one of them turns out to be the hidden word, you lose instantly. Survive all six guesses and you win.
The twist is that you can't just type random junk. Every clue the game reveals becomes a rule you must obey on your next guess:
With every guess your options shrink, the safe-word counter falls, and the board drags you closer to the one word you're trying to avoid. Get cornered with no legal words left except the answer and you're trapped - unless you spend an undo. It's part word puzzle, part escape room.

Frequently asked questions
How is this different from a normal word-guessing game?
It's the reverse. In a normal game the clues help you close in on the answer. Here, the clues are handcuffs: you must reuse every letter you've confirmed and avoid every banned one, which constantly shoves you toward the hidden word. Your goal is to slip through six guesses without landing on it.
Can I really play as many rounds as I want?
Yes. Unlimited mode deals a brand-new secret word every round, forever, for free. The Daily challenge is a single shared puzzle per calendar day - everyone in the world gets the same word, which makes results fun to compare.
What does the safe-word counter mean?
It shows how many dictionary words you could still legally play that are not the hidden answer. When it hits zero, the only legal word left is the answer itself - you're trapped and must either spend an undo or accept your fate.
What are undos?
You get five undos per round. An undo takes back your latest guess and every rule it created, and the undone word stays listed under the keyboard so you remember what you tried. Spend them wisely - escaping a trap usually costs one.
Is this the same as Don't Wordle?
No. Don't Guess is an independent game in the same "avoid the hidden word" genre as Don't Wordle (dontwordle.com), which offers one puzzle per day. Don't Guess is our own implementation with no daily limit - unlimited rounds plus a shared daily - and extras like undo history, achievements and a built-in word journal. See the full comparison →
